A sweet pepper named for its bell-like shape. Although referred to as a vegetable, the pepper is actually a fruit, with a glossy red-colored firm skin. Inside its thick, red flesh is an inner cavity with edible bitter seeds and a white spongy core.
Containing two very powerful antioxidants, carotenoids such as beta-carotene, red bell peppers are known to help prevent or reduce some of the symptoms caused by free radicals. They are also a very rich source of vitamins A and C.
Will keep, refrigerated, for 1-2 weeks.
